MEADOWVIEW PARK REPORT

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Jarvis Soileau, Council Aide to Councilwoman Ivy Taylor, District 2, for his relentless pursuit in assisting Mr. Harold Williams, Area Administrator of Meadowview Park and Mr. Bennie Slaughter, Street Captain of DuBarry Drive, 2nd Vice President, UHIA in finally getting the San Antonio City Public Works Department to engineer, correct and relieve the large pooling of water after rain at the intersection of Dunwoodie and Dubarry Drives.  After many broken promises by the city and many tedious and relentless efforts by myself, Mr. Slaughter and Mr. Soileau over a period of four or five years, the long overdue project was started on August 23, 2011 and completed on August 30, 2011.

Again! Thank you Mr. Bennie Slaughter and Mr. Jarvis Soileau.

Harold Williams, Area Administrator

Thank You - UHIA

Your public display of open-hearted appreciation in renaming KONO Road to “Leon Thomas Way” (for concerted and unrelenting effort in helping to improve safety, infrastructure, aesthetics, and wholesomeness in our community); was a surprise and shocking when President Oscar Vicks finally imparted the news to me.  Some homeowners also sent individual expression of congratulation and came to the dedication:  a few even took-off from work.

I am truly honored beyond all expectation or imagination; but, please, view “Leon Thomas Way” as a symbol expressing the pride of United Homeowners Improvement Association, Incorporated.

Again, I sincerely thank you.

Leon Thomas

From the President

Greeting Neighbors,

We hope that everyone is doing well and that you have managed to stay as cool as possible, especially during the hottest summer in the history of San Antonio. Hopefully September will bring in cooler weather.
For those of you who could not attend the celebration on congratulating Mr. Leon Thomas for a street name after him, it was a very heartfelt celebration. We had a wonderful time and a good turn out of neighbors from the neighborhood. It was stated that this is the first street sign made with the upper and lower case alphabet. A very special thanks goes out to the neighbors who joined in on this celebration. And to Mr. Leon Thomas, we're happy to have such a faithful Service Committee Representative with a street named after him.
We do need a nominating Committee for this year to invite new neighbors to be nominated into office, please call if you're interested, (210)289-7683
Lastly, all neighbors are invited to visit our new senior citizen center on W.W. White Rd. next to Chatman's Chicken.

Oscar L. Vicks
